Facebook launches 'Privacy Center' for users to learn about data collection and privacy options

The Privacy Center provides categorized information on five common privacy topics: Sharing, Security, Data Collection, Data Use, and Advertising.

The Security module will provide quick access to commonly used tools, such as account security settings and two-factor authentication. Sharing will provide details about post visibility and settings to archive or delete old posts. Collect and Use will give users a quick overview of the types of data Meta collects and how and why it is used. Finally, the Advertising section will provide functionality regarding user ad preferences.

The Privacy Center will initially be limited to a small group of people who use Facebook on U.S. desktops, with plans to roll it out to a wider user base and more apps in the coming months. Users in the pilot will be able to access the Privacy Center by navigating to Settings and Privacy on the desktop version of Facebook.
